Week 74: La Rosa

Image
Buenos días! So many things happened this week!! It's been one of the best weeks of my mission:)) HIGHLIGHTS -We said goodbye to the Platts:( They have helped us to become lifelong disciples of Jesus Christ. Our last mission meeting with them felt very much like parents gathering his children at the end of Their life. They gavw us counsel for the things that our most important-focusing on the good through adversity, always following the prophet, the importance of the Book of Mormon, stay on the covenant path. There was so much love. At the end, we gave them a book of letters from all the missionaries, which touched them deeply. We sang the EFY medly and then "God Be with you til we meet Again." Everyone was crying. We all gave them hugs on our way out. They have made such an impact on my life, and I will miss them, but I am honored to be a part of the transition between mission President's. The Galoteras arrive today and we will have the opportunity to meet them tomor...

Week 73: La Rosa

The new transfer started on Friday!  I'm staying in La Rosa with Hermana Echeverria as an STL for my last transfer!! I'm really excited to stay! I truly love the members of the branch and I feel like lots of miracles are coming. Hermana Romero went back to her last area (Bolsa Chica) to be companions with Hermana Edgley. Other than the necessary changes with missionaries leaving and coming in, things in our zones (HB and HBN) pretty much stayed the same, In the process of transfers, we had a lot of meetings. We had end of transfer devotionals for HB and HBN, leadership training meetings, planning meetings, and MLC. On transfer day, we also got to take care of the new missionary who came in (Sister Stoker) while she waited to be assigned to a trainer.  A small miracle with that is we just had this random idea to take her to Joes (an italian ice place by Disneyland that serves missionaries for free) and it was someplace that Sister Stoker always went to with her family when she ...

Week 72: La Rosa

Buenas tardes! Transfer schedules changed so instead of happening tomorrow they will happen on Friday. I'm usually really nervous to get transfer news and although I'm anxious to know what's happening, I feel like every possible option is great. I'm glad that God's in charge because I know he'll make a better decision than I could make for myself! This week we had some really cool experiences!  In our area (La Rosa), we were prompted to go visit some hermanas that we had no idea were struggling but are worried about their "lost sheep children." Hermana Green said we answered a prayer she didn't even know she had! And she was so grateful we came that she gave us a whole box of See's chocolates! That made me so happy! We also went to the Long Beach East stake conference because they needed Hermana Echeverria to play the piano and me to translate. While Hermana Echeverria was translating (she was in the same room as two other sister missionaries, ...

SURPRISE...... I'M IN ANOTHER TRIO!!! Hermana Romero was emergency transferred into our companionship because her companion went home. Things our crazy, but as Sister Platt told me: when has my mission not been crazy?? This is trio #4 for me but I really love this trio! My companions are amazing. I'm sad that we'll probably only be together for the rest of this transfer (2 weeks). Hermana Romero is from Venezuela but she's been in Utah for the last couple of years. So she's helping me a lot with my Spanish! And she's really fun to talk to and a great teacher so we are happy to have her in our companionship.  Miracles -Cirino! As missionaries, we talk to everyone we meet. Last Monday, Cirino was putting his lawncare equipment in his car. He said he loved to learn from other people's experiences and especially that he loves to read. As we testified of the Book of Mormon, we could really feel of God's love for Cirino. We didn't have another Book of Morm...

Week 70: La Rosa

This ones a week late... Happy Memorial day!! Today was sooo fun! We went to the anual Helotada in the Spanish stake with all the Spanish missionaries from the mission! I got to see all my friends from my last area, Raymond-the Garcias, Hermana Becky, Rubi's family, the Rosas; eat carne asada tacos and helote, and play spikeball for 2 hours with Hermana Young, Elder Bales, and Elder Vegas. It made my day!  Highlights -A big part of my mission has been giving weekly trainings in Zone Council. This last week, we went to HBN Zone Council and trained on giving invitations and promising blessings and it went really well! I learned a lot from the zone and I got to share some cool things that my dad has taught me about promised blessings. And the APs were there and they are really happy with how the zone is doing right now! -We had the opportunity to serve our Branch President's family. His Father passed away recently so we spent all morning Friday setting up for the funeral and Servi...
