Week 71: La Rosa

SURPRISE......

I'M IN ANOTHER TRIO!!!

Hermana Romero was emergency transferred into our companionship because her companion went home. Things our crazy, but as Sister Platt told me: when has my mission not been crazy?? This is trio #4 for me but I really love this trio!

My companions are amazing. I'm sad that we'll probably only be together for the rest of this transfer (2 weeks). Hermana Romero is from Venezuela but she's been in Utah for the last couple of years. So she's helping me a lot with my Spanish! And she's really fun to talk to and a great teacher so we are happy to have her in our companionship.

Miracles
-Cirino! As missionaries, we talk to everyone we meet. Last Monday, Cirino was putting his lawncare equipment in his car. He said he loved to learn from other people's experiences and especially that he loves to read. As we testified of the Book of Mormon, we could really feel of God's love for Cirino. We didn't have another Book of Mormon on us so we gave him some pamphlets and set up a time to meet on Sunday (yesterday)...Sadly when we called on Sunday, his wife picked up and simply said: "He's not interested. Somos Catolicos..." So ít looks like for the moment, we won't be able to teach him but we planned a seed. Hopefully someday!
-Antonio! Antonio had been messaging some Elders on Facebook about the gospel of Jesus Christ and since Antonio lives in our area, they passed him off to us. We've had two phone lessons that went really well. He had a lot of sincere questions about baptism, authority, Joseph Smith, and the Law Of Chastity. I've never taught someone that has so many questions right off the bat. We hope to meet with him in person this week. He seems really prepared! Please pray for him that he can keep his commitment to read and pray about the Book of Mormon.
-Heydi and Carlos went to church today in Baskersfield! They just have to figure out some legal things so they can get married and baptized but when we called them yesterday they seemed to be doing really good.
-On Saturday, Hermana Tina Luna went to the temple for the first time to receive her endowment. So many branch members were there to support her! We are so happy she made this next covenant with God!
-Hermana Menendez is an ángel! We didn't have anyone to eat with on Fast Sunday and she offered to Feed us and made us the best food ever. I am so grateful for her:))

This week in Come Follow Me, we studied toward the end of the Savior's life. During the Last Supper, the Christ told his apostles that one of them would betray him.

Matthew 26:22 says: "And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say unto him, Lord, is it I?"

When Warren got back from his mission, he showed me one of his favorite songs from The Lamb of God called "Lord, is it I?"

In this song, the apostles sing:

Lord, is it I?
Would ever I betray thee?
Having known Thy love could I so cruelly turn away?
Could my heart so fail Thee and my feeling turn so cold?
If I should leave Thee, where would I go?

Lord, is it I?
Am I then to betray Thee?
Having seen Thy wonders, could my foolish heart be swayed?
Is my faith so little that my sould would cease to burn?
If I should wander,  where would I turn?

This song has had to come even more meaning as a missionary. I have committed to be His disciple forever. I know He lives, He directs this Church, and through Him, I can return to live with my Heavenly Father. And that's why I'm here. To help other people know that same thing. I have felt His love. I have seen His miracles. And I will never leave Him.

I invite each of you to pray about what you can do to become more committed disciples  of Jesus Christ!

I'm praying for you!! ¡Los quiero!
