Week 70: La Rosa
This ones a week late...
Happy Memorial day!! Today was sooo fun! We went to the anual Helotada in the Spanish stake with all the Spanish missionaries from the mission! I got to see all my friends from my last area, Raymond-the Garcias, Hermana Becky, Rubi's family, the Rosas; eat carne asada tacos and helote, and play spikeball for 2 hours with Hermana Young, Elder Bales, and Elder Vegas. It made my day!
Highlights
-A big part of my mission has been giving weekly trainings in Zone Council. This last week, we went to HBN Zone Council and trained on giving invitations and promising blessings and it went really well! I learned a lot from the zone and I got to share some cool things that my dad has taught me about promised blessings. And the APs were there and they are really happy with how the zone is doing right now!
-We had the opportunity to serve our Branch President's family. His Father passed away recently so we spent all morning Friday setting up for the funeral and Serving the family breakfast. They are a really sweet family. They have been so strong through all of this but please keep them in your prayers!
-Two exchanges! With Sister Hill and Sister Cook. Some of my favorite people:))
Miracles
-We had a great lesson with Rubi! We shared the Restoration and she felt the spirit.
-We have been teaching a less active member, Fernando Maldonado, for the past two months. This week, we read the Book of Mormon with him and testified of it and he said "you missionaries testify with so much conviction. I hope one day I can testify like you all!" We have been teaching him for quite sometime and he has been very unsure of the Book of Mormon so this is a big step for him!
-Heydi and Carlos struggled a little bit this first week together in Bakersfield BUT we were able to call her and read the Book of Mormon together and she is feeling better now. Please keep them in your prayers that they can get married & baptized.
Getting nearer to the end of the mission has been hard. And I feel like I've definitely been tested and tried the last couple months. But I talked to President Platt and Sister Hill about it this past week and their advice made me realize how important hope in Jesus Christ is.
I wanted to share with yall something I learned about hope drom Preach My Gospel (the teachings of the prophets and apostles that help us to be good missionaries):
"Hope is an abiding trust that the Lord will fulfill His promises to you. It is manifest in confidence, optimism, enthusiasm, and patient perseverance. It is believing and expecting that something will occur. When you have hope, you work through trials and difficulties with the confidence and assurance that all things will work together for your good."
Remember to have hope in Christ this week!
Love you all:)))
