Week 65

Hola a todos!  Sorry I couldn't write much last week! Our zone did service at the Friendship Baptist church food pantry and then spent the rest of pday at Downtown Disney! This week was another crazy week. As missionaries, we can expect the unexpected.  Updates: -We had follow-up Zone Conference! My favorite meeting. Basically, it's where half the mission, the Platts and the assistants get together instead of having Zone Council and have a pump-up meeting to keep pushing for the remainder of the transfer. My favorite part of that meeting is President and Sister Platt's testimonies and singing the song As Sisters in Zion/We'll Bring the World His Truth -I went on exchanges with Sister Ritchie in the Pleasant View area, which means we biked A LOT. But it was so fun! Sister Ritchie is such a kind missionary. I loved learning from her. We taught a few lessons to members and in each lesson, we could see that the Spirit sweetly touched the members hearts as truth was shared o...

Week 64: La Rosa

I don't have a lot of time but here are the biggest updates from this week:  HEYDI AND CARLOS: We had such a spiritual lesson with Heydi and Carlos. Heydi told us she had been struggling and started to cry. We told them that as they continue coming unto Christ, the Adversary will attack them but there are so many blessings in store for them if they continue on this path. We then watched the BOM videos/read 3 Nefi 11 and the Spirit was SO STRONG and they RECOGNIZED IT!! They got their questions about baptism and they believe the BOM is true!!! The Spirit prompted us to invite them to be baptized and THEY ACCEPTED THE INVITATION TO BE BAPTIZED (but we didn't set a date yet). But the Adversary kept working on them and a few days later, because of some challenges, Heydi moved to Compton. We are really sad to see her go. We feel such a strong connection with her. But we know it's the Spirit who converts and we she will continue being taught there while we teach Carlos here. Plea...

Week 63: La Rosa

Happy easter!! I'm so grateful for the chance to reflect on the Savior's last week of his earthly life and what his sacrifice means to me. I'm grateful that I had a chance to testify so frequently of Him and His Resurrection.  Miracles: -God sent us to minister to two people who recently lost loved ones. When we were at the store last week, we ran into a lady we used to teach, Sandra. We haven't seen her in a few months, but her mom passed away a few months ago. We set up a time to go visit her with the member who lives in her apartment complex, Hermana Peregrine. She had enchiladas ready for us and we were able to talk about the Resurrection and the hope that comes from the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Then on Sunday, our last contact of the night, we asked this guy named Robert who was walking his dog if he wanted to hear an Easter message. He said yes. We shared with him scriptures from the Bible and the Book of Mormon about the Resurrection. He told us we were an answ...

Week 62: La Rosa

Hola! Buenas tardes! I can't believe it's pday again. The weeks are just flying by. I don't know when the change happens because people used to tell me I was a young missionary but now whenever I say how long I've been on the mission, they tell me "ya mero," which is basically a Mexican phrase for "you're almost done." So, now I've converted to telling people the classic "a little over a year" when they ask me how long I've been out. The thought of going home scares me. Like for real, last week, I had a nightmare that I was home and someone was taking my tag off. Don't get me wrong, I love you all and I am excited to see you. But this is the most fulfilling, joyful experience of my life and I never want it to end. Although sometimes the thought of going home paralyzes me, I think overall it makes me realize how precious this time is. The mission truly is a microcosm of life. As I approach the end (don't worry, I still ha...
