Week 63: La Rosa
Happy easter!!
I'm so grateful for the chance to reflect on the Savior's last week of his earthly life and what his sacrifice means to me. I'm grateful that I had a chance to testify so frequently of Him and His Resurrection.
Miracles:
-God sent us to minister to two people who recently lost loved ones. When we were at the store last week, we ran into a lady we used to teach, Sandra. We haven't seen her in a few months, but her mom passed away a few months ago. We set up a time to go visit her with the member who lives in her apartment complex, Hermana Peregrine. She had enchiladas ready for us and we were able to talk about the Resurrection and the hope that comes from the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Then on Sunday, our last contact of the night, we asked this guy named Robert who was walking his dog if he wanted to hear an Easter message. He said yes. We shared with him scriptures from the Bible and the Book of Mormon about the Resurrection. He told us we were an answer to his prayers because his dad passed away on Easter 2 years ago and we brought him hope.
-We were able to teach Heydi and her partner, Carlos about the Restoration and they both LOVED it! And Heydi came to church on Easter Sunday:)))) We street contacted for hours in the neighborhood off Beach and Slater and invited every member and every friend taught in the last three years to church and as far as we know, only Heydi and Luis came but the worth of souls is great in the sight of God. It was 100% worth it for the two of them.
-We had a second lesson with Fernando, a member who hasn't come to church in years. He literally asked 1000 questions but they were the most sincere questions. We are going to meet with him every Thursday afternoon. Stay tuned on Fernando. I'm sure there will be more updates...
-I got to talk to Sister Platt for an hour while I was waiting for my interview with President Platt. I just love Sister Platt. And I can't remember if I've said this before, but when the Platts finish their mission this summer, they are moving to Virginia. I'm so excited!!
-We went back to the house of Colombians we found a couple weeks ago. Last week, we found Andres and Diego. Andres says that Diego reads the Book of Mormon on the drive to work everyday. This time Diego was sleeping but we were able to teach Andres and his other friend, Andres an Easter message and they said we could come back every Sunday night to teach them!!
Tender Mercies (God showing me that He loves me and is aware of me):
-After a few hours of street contacting and visiting potential friends off Slater and Beach, we headed back to the car and bought two tacos and two churros from the Taco Truck. We invited the Taco Truck workers and a sweet lady standing in line to Easter church and then when we got back to our car, we found out they had given us 4 tacos (2 each). It was so kind of them. Made my week!!
-One of my favorite people, Sister Aguirre, noticed that we didn't have bags to take our groceries home in (because you have to pay for plastic/paper bags in California) so she so so thoughtful and sent me a bunch of handmade bags for groceries. We used them today and it made me so happy!!
-I got to talk with my family on Easter! They are my greatest blessing <3
This Easter season, I am grateful for our inspired prophet's teaching on Christlike living. President Nelson taught: "The Savior’s message is clear: His true disciples build, lift, encourage, persuade, and inspire—no matter how difficult the situation. True disciples of Jesus Christ are peacemakers."
I invite you each to follow tbe Prince of Peace and choose to be peacemakers.
I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World. When He was in the Garden of Gethsemany, He took my place and experienced my difficulties, challenges, and weakness. How grateful I am for a Savior the knows me, comforts me, and Heals me. I know that He is risen and He lives. Thanks to Him, I can change. And one day, I will be ready to return to my Heavenly Father with my family. I love Him with all my heart.
Los quiero mucho!
