Week 53: La Rosa

Hi Everyone! Thanks to everyone who sends me emails. I love reading them and they give me encouragement and motivation and help me feel so much love from home. I am so sorry that I don't respond. Most pdays, I just have enough time to talk to my family and get the mass email out. But know that it means so much to me!! Hermana Amézquita finishes her mission next Tuesday so we've started the "lasts." Last Wednesday was her last follow-up Zone Conference. She bore her testimony and it was really sweet. It's been amazing to see her determination to end her mission obedient and consecrated. At the end of zone conference, we always sing As Sisters in Zion/Army of Helaman. The Platts (the mission leaders) always stand up front and watch us and cry. It's the tenderest thing. I think their love is the purest, most Christlike love I've ever felt from anyone outside of my family. Afterwards, we taught Maria a lesson about Family History. Maria is still struggling wit...

Week 52: La Rosa

Hey everyone!  It's been the best week of my life! But then again, each week as a missionary just gets better and better. Even through the hard times, I experience growth and continue to feel the love of my Heavenly Father. There's no place I'd rather be!!  Milagrooooosssss... ☆We met José y Luzmila from Colombia! My MTC comp, Hermana Young, was there when they were baptized last March. They recently moved to our branch in Huntington Beach. We are going to help them prepare for the temple! ☆Edgar continues to progress! I wasn't there for his lesson this week because I was on exchanges with Sister Murri, but Hermana Amézquita and Sister Cox taught him the Plan of Salvation and said it went really well! He also came to church again on Sunday and loved it! Please pray for him that he can accept the invitation to be baptized! ☆We had a biggggg miracle on exchanges with Sister Murri! They are in the Cordata Park ward, a small, more affluent area where it is less common to fi...

Week 51: La Rosa

Hi Everyone! This week I feel so grateful to be a missionary. We are part of the promised gathering of Israel in preparation for the second coming of the Savior.  I was reading in Mormon 7 this week, which takes place about 400 years after the coming of Jesus Christ. At this point in the Book of Mormon, the people have turned away from God and are at war. The believers have been almost completely destroyed, and the only hope that Mormon has is that the descendents of his people (the people who I teach) will one day be brought back to a knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  In Mormon 7:10, Mormon says to His descendents of our day: "And ye will also know that ye are a remnant of the seed of Jacob; therefore ye are numbered among the people of the first covenant; and if it so be that ye believe in Christ, and are baptized, first with water, then with fire and with the Holy Ghost, following the example of our Savior, according to that which he hath commanded us, it shall be w...

Week 50: La Rosa

Hi Everyone! I hope yall have had a good week! So first, the crazy news: Sister Clements is back with us (well kind of). Sister Clements and Sister Hill have had some scary things happening to their apartament so we had to pick them up in the middle of the night last Wednesday & they've been staying with us since then and for the foreseeable future.   Besides now living as a quad, we found out who our new mission leaders will be starting in July (the Galoteras from the Phillipines) AND we had 2 exchanges this week! On Thursday, Sister Harding came with me in our area and on Friday, I went with Sister Nylund to the Mile Square Park/Mid Single Adult Wards. We had some really good talks and saw lots of miracles: In respect to the gathering of Israel, Elder Bednar has taught: "The Lord declared, “I am able to do mine own work” (2 Nephi 27:21), and “I will hasten my work in its time” (D&C 88:73). We are witnesses of His hastening of His work." I have been a witness of ...

Happy New Year!!  I'm so grateful for the growth I experienced in 2022. Best year of my life so far! I'm excited to continue growing with the Lord in 2023! Highlights/Miracles from this week: ☆María Aldrete opened up to us more about the obstacles that are preventing her from being baptized. So now we can help her more directly.  ☆Sister Clements went back to Pleasant View as a trainer!! We went with her to pick up her new companion, Sister Hill and she is sooo cool! They have already seen so many miracles. I'm so proud of them.  ☆We played soccer in the rain! And I scored a goal (for real) this time! ☆We had a miracle church tour (finally) with our friend Lucas! He felt the Spirit and said he wants to be baptized when he learns more! Woohoo!! Sadly, he wasn't able to come to church yesterday because of an emergencia but this week for sure! ☆I just love the sisters in HB. They're always giving hugs and sincere compliments and help me feel my Heavenly Father's lo...
