Blessings Of Having A Living Prophet (Week 9: Cerritos)

Image
It's been such a good week here! Being a missionary is the best. We did experience our fair share of rejection, including when we tried to share Scriptures with people at the mall for our zone activity. And there were lots of times when we showed up to someone's house and they weren't there. But I keep on remembering a quote that one of the AP's said the first day which has been so true: "Obedience in the mornings, diligence in the afternoons, miracles in the evenings." I decided I can't rank the miracles anymore because they are all so amazing. I've definitely gained a stronger witness this week that this is the Lord's work. Miracles this week: -We were walking to our friend Maria's apartment when a man named Antonio stopped us on the street and said he just moved here from Nicaragua and is looking for a church in Spanish. We taught him three nights in a row out on the street, and turns out he's actually a member! I think he joined the chu...

Semana De Milagros (Week 8:Cerritos)

Buenos días! We had the most amazing week here in Cerritos! We had zone conference on Tuesday with our half of the mission and it was amazing! The Platts are so awesome. We talked about sacrifice and giving 100% as a missionary. We were invited to get rid of any bad habits or anything that is holding us back from giving everything to the Savior because we love Him. Our leaders promised us that if we give 100% effort, then we will see miracles. This zone conference inspired Hermana Midence and I so much to become even more consecrated missionaries. Although we haven't been perfect, we've tried to give everything we had this week and we saw so many miracles. Here were the top 5 miracles from this week: 5.We met this lady who was selling snowcones on the street named Guadalupe. We were on our way to another lesson but we both felt prompted to stop and talk to her so we bought snowcones and asked if we could share a message about Jesus with her. We read Alma 7:11-12 and gave her un...

First week In Cali (Cerritos Week 7)

Image
Hola from California! The last week and a half has been muy Loco! But some amazing memories. I finished up my training in Mexico. I am so grateful for my time I had there. I grew my testimony and improved my Spanish. But I think the biggest change I saw was how Christ changed me to become a more consecrated, more Christlike missionary. I learned so much from my district. I was so grateful to be in a district where everyone wanted to be on a mission and was trying their best. It was so hard to say goodbye to them. Hermana Young and I were the only two to go to Anaheim. We left the CCM on Tuesday at 1:30 in the morning and got to California later that afternoon. So much happened. Last week we mostly had meetings because it was my first week. Here are the highlights: 5.Flying to California was crazy! Hermana Young and I talked to this older gentleman on the plane in Spanish for like 3 hours. We talked about our faith in God and Jesus Christ but then he ended up getting a little bashy so w...

Week 6: CCM (Last week In Mexico)

Hola amigos! It's been another great week here at the CCM. It's so hard to believe that we're all going to our missions next week. It also makes me so sad that most of my district are going to other places. Just Hermana Young and I are going to Anaheim. I'm going to miss them all so much. Here are some of the highlights from this week: 5. All the funny moments this week, especially when people would totally mess up speaking Spanish. For example, during our English Fast when Elder McKenzie said "He aqui" (Behold) while he was talking at the dinner table or when we were eating dinner and he said he needed a "corbata" (tie) instead of his "cubiertos" (silverware) and when Elder Durden thanked God for a good "mesa" (table) in his prayer instead of a good "mes" (month). Then there was yesterday when I said to the worked at the tienda "que Tengo un buen Dia" instead of "que tenga un buen dia" We're all ...
