First week In Cali (Cerritos Week 7)
Hola from California!
The last week and a half has been muy Loco! But some amazing memories. I finished up my training in Mexico. I am so grateful for my time I had there. I grew my testimony and improved my Spanish. But I think the biggest change I saw was how Christ changed me to become a more consecrated, more Christlike missionary. I learned so much from my district. I was so grateful to be in a district where everyone wanted to be on a mission and was trying their best. It was so hard to say goodbye to them. Hermana Young and I were the only two to go to Anaheim. We left the CCM on Tuesday at 1:30 in the morning and got to California later that afternoon. So much happened. Last week we mostly had meetings because it was my first week. Here are the highlights:
5.Flying to California was crazy! Hermana Young and I talked to this older gentleman on the plane in Spanish for like 3 hours. We talked about our faith in God and Jesus Christ but then he ended up getting a little bashy so we changed the subject. But that was a cool experience! And we both got flagged for having Apples in our bags when we went through customs. But everything turned out good. And then when we got to the airport, our mission leaders, the Platts, and our trainers were there to meet us. President Platt interviewed us in the airport and assigned us to our companions right then!
4.We went to a welcome home for a returned missionary in our ward. It was a really good opportunity to meet the members. And the food was sooo good! We had the best tacos and horchata I've ever had in my life.
3.We did a lot of contacting this week! We met a really cool teenager named Michael while we were walking one day who is interested in learning more! We also talked to an old lady who was gardening one day and taught her the restoration! That was the first real lesson that I taught in Spanish!
2.Meeting my trainer! Her name is Hermana Midence and she is awesome. Her dad is from Honduras, so I feel really blessed that I can learn Spanish from Her because her Spanish is so good. And she is an amazing missionary!
1.Last Testimony Meeting in the CCM. The Spirit was so strong. I am so grateful for my district and everything that they taught me.
I think this transfer the Lord is increasing my faith. In Aprl 2021, President Nelson said: " receive more faith by doing something that requires more faith." Being a missionary requires a lot of faith. We have to have faith to go out every day and search for these people that we promised we'd find. We have the faith to work hard. We have to have faith to learn a language and to be obedient. I am grateful for this opportunity to grow my faith in Jesus Christ. I believe that He is my Savior and is with me every step of the way. I am so grateful to be a part of His work.
