Week 68: La Rosa

This week has been crazy. Lots of putting out fires (or at least trying to) with the sisters and just trying to keep on going.

Highlights:
-Zone Conference! We learned a lot about loving and following the Spirit. I truly love our leaders. The Platts and the APs are so Christlike in the way they encourage us to be better!
-Exchanges with Sister Fin! She was just released as an STL and is in the last transfer of her mission. It was my first time going on exchanges with a former STL and I was so grateful to be able to learn from her.
-We did service at Red Cross!! It's been awhile since we've gone there so it was fun to be back.
-I got to talk to my family 2 extra times this week! For my dad's birthday and mother's day!

Milagros
-Heydi went to church and loved it!! She felt so welcomed. Afterwards, Hermano Stewart and Hermano Quesada gave her a priesthood blessing of comfort. She's been going through a lot recently with searching for a job (she did find a temporary part time working with Hermana Menendez), but she says if she finds a job, she will probably stay here permanently. Please pray that she can find a job!!
-We went back to the Martinez Family this week. The parents weren't there, but we were were able to teach their two sons, Victor and Justin, how to pray for the first time!
-There us an Hermana named Teresa Lopez who lost her daughter a little over a year ago. Teresa is a convert to the church and only went to the temple one time, about 10 years ago. For the first time this coming Saturday, she is going to return to the temple to be endowed for her daughter. Yesterday (mothers day), we went over to her ministering sisters house (Hermana Quesada) and we worked on her family history/ helped the Quesadas make dinner. And she was able to find all the information she needs to be endowed for her daughter!!
-While working with the HBN stake president. President Platt, and the zone leaders, we have felt that there are better methods to do missionary work in our area. President Platt decided that the McFadden elders (Elder Papich and Elder Davis) are going to be the first to try it out because they are obedient and humble and their area hasn't seen success in a long time. This transfer, they will be working like never before to find the elect. "And ye are called to bring to pass the gathering of mine elect; for mine elect hear my voice and harden not their hearts" (DyC 29:7). Please pray for them!

This mother's day, I've felt thankful for my mom and the dedication that she gives to her divine calling as a mother. All the blessings I have in life are thanks to her example, teaching, guidance, and love. I am grateful for the sacrifices that she and my dad made so that my mom could stay at home with us. Oftentimes on the mission, I've thought about how my mom was my missionary. She taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ through her words and actions.

Elder Holland taught: "No love in mortality comes closer to approximating the pure love of Jesus Christ than the selfless love a devoted mother has for her child."

I am so grateful for my mother's love which has helped me better understand and feel the love of my Savior!!

Happy mothers day to all my mother figures! I love you!!
