Week 69: La Rosa

Image
Buenas tardes!! The weeks are just flying by. This Sunday in church Hermano Quesada announced to the whole ward that I was leaving in July so someone better start learning how to play the piano.  Last Monday, Heydi told us that she would be moving to Bakersfield. Carlos found them a place to live and a job for Heydi. Heydi was really sad to leave the family she had found in Huntington Beach but she said that she we could meet with her every day that week! Milagros with Heydi this week: -She learned how the Spirit talks to her! She had been praying and fasting about baptism but still felt that she was waiting for an answer. We helped her understand how the Spirit speaks to her. A few days later, she was so excited to tell us that she recieved her confirmation!! God told her that she was ready for baptism, even if she did move to a different place.  -We read with her "The Family: A Proclamation to the World" and the Spirit touched her deeply. She saw that the pattern that God h...

Week 68: La Rosa

This week has been crazy. Lots of putting out fires (or at least trying to) with the sisters and just trying to keep on going.  Highlights:  -Zone Conference! We learned a lot about loving and following the Spirit. I truly love our leaders. The Platts and the APs are so Christlike in the way they encourage us to be better! -Exchanges with Sister Fin! She was just released as an STL and is in the last transfer of her mission. It was my first time going on exchanges with a former STL and I was so grateful to be able to learn from her.  -We did service at Red Cross!! It's been awhile since we've gone there so it was fun to be back.  -I got to talk to my family 2 extra times this week! For my dad's birthday and mother's day! Milagros -Heydi went to church and loved it!! She felt so welcomed. Afterwards, Hermano Stewart and Hermano Quesada gave her a priesthood blessing of comfort. She's been going through a lot recently with searching for a job (she did find a temporary...

Buenas tardes!!! We had the normal first-week of the transfer craziness this last week but God made the best of the little time we actually had working on our area! Carlos and Heydi update: Heydi moved back from LA! Last Monday, we had a great lesson with Heydi and Carlos and one of our favorite members, Hermana Menendez. We taught them about the Plan of Salvation and Hermana Menendez testified of temples. They loved it!! Carlos even asked what the requirements are for him to be baptized!!  A few days later, we had another lesson about temples and how our bodies our temples and how we should treat them. There were some really funny moments, like when Hermana Menendez was talking about a hot drink that she drinks instead of coffee that has trigo in it (wheat) and when I asked her what trigo meant, she said "it means trigo!" And everyone started laughing. But they are going to work towards living the Word of Wisdom (pray that they can give up coffee) and the Law of Chastity (th...

Buenas tardes!!! Transfer news...... I'm still in La Rosa with Hermana Echeverria!!! Definitely not expecting that one. This will be my first time on the mission having a 5th transfer in an area and a 3rd transfer in a row with the same companion. But I'm really excited to dig deep and see miracles this coming transfer!! The best part of the transfer report was that we are getting a new apartment with its very own washer and dryer!! I'm so excited!! This was a week filled with miracles. It made me excited to stay here and see my friends progress!! -Heydi moved back here from Compton. While she was in Compton, the Elders invited her to prepare to be baptized on May 27th. Now that she's back with Carlos, we will keep teaching them both and hopefully they will be able to work towards baptism together. Please pray for them!! -For months, we have been trying to meet the Martinez Family. The hermano, Victor, joined the church in his youth but has not been active for many year...
