Week 61: La Rosa
Hola a todos!
First week of the transfer down!! This week was sooo busy. We had 22 hours of meetings this week but God truly made the best of the time we had to work in our area!!
Updates
-We dropped Hermana Storm off at the airport at 4 am Tuesday morning!
-We gained a new zone! Before we were only STLs over the Huntington Beach Zone but this transfer, since Huntington Beach North Zone gained hermanas (after 11 months of being an all-Elder zone). Needless to say, going to HBN meetings has been a little crazy.
-We had an amazing meeting with our nds Branch President and His wife, the Linos!! They have a great visión for how to advance the work in the branch.
Milagros
-A month ago when I was on exchanges, we met a young mom named Abril. We shared a scripture and got her phone number but she didn't text us until this week. She reached out and said she was interested! We had a phone lesson about the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and life after death and she said we were an answer to her prayers. It was the sweetest thing!! We will pass her off to the Bolsa Chica Hermanas this week.
-We play fútbol on Saturday mornings with the Branch and try to invite our friends and people from Facebook. A new family came and I was able to talk with a girl my age named Genesis who is so cool! We talked about everything from the Book of Mormon to the Law of Chastity. She's going to try to come to institute (religión class for young adults) this next week!!
-On Saturday night, we had a prompting to knock on a door. A young guy came out and with out us even asking, he asked where we wanted to do the lesson!! Jason is so cool! He talked with missionaries 7 years ago when he was in high school and wants to keep meeting with us!!
-A few weeks ago, we invited our friend Omar to be baptized, but after that he ghosted us. One time when he called us, he said "tengo muchas dudas. Ya no estoy interesado" And then Hung up the phone. But in a last -ditch attempt, we stopped by his apartment on Sunday and he was home!! We testified and the Spirit literally changed his heart before our eyes!! He's going to keep meeting with us. Please pray that he can receive a spiritual confirmation that this is Christ's church!!
Omar's big concern was how God could call a prophet in these days. We know that God called prophets in Bíblical times like Adamz Abraham, and Moses. Their purpose was to testify of Christ and prepare the people for what was to come.
The scriptures teach "For [God] is the same yesterday, today, and forever; and the way is prepared for all men from the foundation of the world, if it so be that they repent and come unto him" (1 Nephi 10:18).
So why wouldn't he call prophets now just like He did in times of old to testify of Christ and prepare us for the unique challenges in our day?
I know that we have a living prophet, President Nelson. He communicates directly with God. I know that when we follow him we are spiritually protected.
We have the chance to listen to our prophet and apostles this coming weekend! I invite you to watch with an open heart and ask God if they are His prophet and apostles. I promise you as you do so, you will receive an answer through the Holy Ghost.
If you have any questions about General Conference, please reach out or look it up on churchofjesuschrist.org.
Have an amazing week! Love yall!!
