Week 61: La Rosa

Image
Hola a todos! First week of the transfer down!! This week was sooo busy. We had 22 hours of meetings this week but God truly made the best of the time we had to work in our area!! Updates -We dropped Hermana Storm off at the airport at 4 am Tuesday morning! -We gained a new zone! Before we were only STLs over the Huntington Beach Zone but this transfer, since Huntington Beach North Zone gained hermanas (after 11 months of being an all-Elder zone). Needless to say, going to HBN meetings has been a little crazy.  -We had an amazing meeting with our nds Branch President and His wife, the Linos!! They have a great visión for how to advance the work in the branch.  Milagros -A month ago when I was on exchanges, we met a young mom named Abril. We shared a scripture and got her phone number but she didn't text us until this week. She reached out and said she was interested! We had a phone lesson about the Restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and life after death and she said we ...

Week 60: La Rosa

Hola hola! This has been quite the interesting week. We had a lot of departure activities with getting Sister Storm ready to go home, had to put out some fires (figuratively, of course) with our sisters, and experienced an abnormal amount of rain for Southern california!! Last Tuesday when it was raining, we decided to go to the Slater Slums. We had a lesson scheduled there later that night with Caesar. We spent about two hours contacting people who lived around there who had been taught previously and streetcontacting the few brave souls who were walking in the rain.  We were 100% soaked (empapada) by the end and freezing cold but it was fun!! On our way walking to the 7:00 lesson, we met this cool guy named Pedro and shared a scripture with him. Then when we showed up at Casar's house (hoping that Maria Elena and Jesus would be there too), no one opened the door...:( BUT on our way walking out we had a strong prompting to to turn around and knock in the neighbors that live below ...

This week flew by. I can't believe it's Pday already!! The fifth week of the transfer is always fun. I also hit one year in California! Highlights ☆We had follow-up Zone Conference on Wednesday where we received training from our mission leaders, shared miracles from this transfer, and the departing missionaries (including Hermana Storm) shared their testimonies. We also got to do a special musical number! Hermana Echeverria and Hermana Storm sang "Peace in Christ" while I played the piano.  ☆After follow-up, I kept up the tradition and we took Hermana Storm out to eat at the Habit. I never thought I'd have traditions that I do with departing missionaries but now that I'm on my third companion that's going home I guess I do... ☆Exchanges with Sister Hill!! Sister Hill is in training and I love her so much. She is diligent, obedient, and eager to learn and improve. It was my first day as a bike missionary! We biked and walked several miles, talked to lots o...

Week 58: La Rosa

Hola hola!! This week I've had some humbling and some hard experiences. I've thought a lot, read the Scriptures more intently, and prayed more sincerely.  Sadly, Edgar isn't progressing right now. He's canceled his lessons and not come to church the last few weeks. We know He has a big question or concern he's not sharing with us, so we think he's avoiding us for right now. Please keep him in your prayers!!  Miracles from this week: -I got to go to the temple! Everytime I go to the temple, I feel peace and belonging. And this time when I went, everything connected. All the promises we make at baptism and in the temple help us to fulfill the two great commandments of loving neighbor and loving God. And we receive access to Christ's power in our lives!  -We went back to the house with the four friends we found the week before. Marialena and Caesar were there and we had a great lesson with them and one of our favorite members, Luis Palacios, came with us! We ta...
