Week 56: La Rosa
Hola familia y amigos!
It has been another great week full of learning in Huntington Beach.
☆We had Zone Conference! A giant meeting with 100 missionaries where we learn from our mission leaders. It always leaves me so inspired and excited. This time I got to go to two zone conferences because Sister Tuinei and I performed a song called "Gethsemane" about Jesus Christ's sacrifice for us.
☆We had our first phone lesson with Omar, a self-referral who recently moved here from Mexico. Omar has lots of regrets in life and feels so much weight from the choices he's made. We've started to teach him about repentance through the atonement of Jesus Christ. I am excited to see the transformation in Him.
☆When I was on exchanges with Sister Wheeler, we had a lesson with Edgar. As we planned for the lesson, we felt inspired to invite him to be baptized. Hermana Margarita Perkins from the congregation came with us. We taught him about baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and the temple. When we were testifying of the truth that families can be connected forever through the covenants (promises with God) we make in the temple, the Spirit confirmed to our hearts thay this was true. We invited Edgar to be baptized. He said probably eventually but he doesn't del ready yet. He wants to know more. He did say he believes everything we've taught him. We gave him the baptismal interview questions because this is God's standard for him to be baptized. We invited him to read through the questions and pray about baptism. Please pray that he can receive an answer that he is ready!
When I was practicing for Gethsemane, I thought a lot about the Savior. Here are some of my favorite verses about Jesus Christ's love for us:
"Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:4-5)
"And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground." (Luke 22:44)
"And he shall go forth, suffering pains and afflictions and temptations of every kind; and this that the word might be fulfilled which saith he will take upon him the pains and the sicknesses of his people. And he will take upon him death, that he may loose the bands of death which bind his people; and he will take upon him their infirmities, that his bowels may be filled with mercy, according to the flesh, that he may know according to the flesh how to succor his people according to their infirmities." (Alma 7:11-12)
I know by the power of the Holy Ghost that Jesus Christ is my Redeemer. His atoning sacrifice is the greatest act of love. And because He took me place, he knows how I feel and He knows how to heal me.
I love Him. And I Treasure the time I have to wear His Name over my heart and share this truth with all of God's children.
Love yall! Hasta luego!!
