Week 43: Huntington Beach (Aka Raymond)
So...I was supposed to go to Huntington Beach last Tuesday but I was so sick on Transfer day that our President told us not to transfer.
Hermana Garcia didn't have any symptoms so she transferred to her new area, but Hermana Votaw and I have been here in Raymond for a week!
We've been really fatigued so mostly just sleeping this past week with a few phone lessons, zoom planning sessions, and some great personal study! It's actually been a blessing to be able to reset and rest.
As a mission, we have started a study of the New Testament together. We are looking for the gospel of Jesus Christ (faith, repentance, baptism, gift of the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end) as well as how we can become lasting disciples.
Serving a mission, I have gained a great appreciation and respect for the 12 disciples. They were simple fisherman, but responded IMMEDIATELY to a call to leave their nets and become "fishers of men" (Matthew 4:19). That urgency has been a distinguishing characteristic I have noticed as I studied.
-"and they STRAIGHTWAY left their nets and followed Him" (Matthew 4:20)
-"and they IMMEDIATLEY left the ship and their father, and followed Him" (Matthew 4:22)
-"and when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed Him (Matthew 8:22)
-"and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him" (Matthew 9:9)
In all of these situations, the disciples were quick to follow the Savior, wherever He went. No questions asked. No compromises made.
I want to become the disciple of Jesus Christ that is quick to follow Him. I know that Christ speaks to us through His Prophet. President Nelson is the Living Prophet here on the earth today. I choose to obey the Prophet quickly, immediately, no questions asked or compromises made because I know I am following the Savior Jesus Christ. I want Him to know He can be dependent on me.
I invite each of you to consciously make the choice to be urgent in Following our Savior Jesus Christ! I promised you that as you do so you will find more joy and fulfillment in your life.
I am excited for another week serving the Lord! I will be transferring to Huntington Beach on Wednesday.
Happy Thanksgiving!
