Week 21: Cerritos
It's been another amazing, busy, miraculous week!!!
☆I went on exchanges with Hermana Jackson in Huntington Beach. This was my first day teaching outside of my area!! It was so fun to be with her and learn from her. Hermana Jackson is one of my mission role models. She loves the Lord, she loves her friends she is teaching, and she loves other missionaries. I learned so much about how I can improve and grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ from this exchange!
☆We had a lesson with Yarita where we reestablished our purpose and set expectations. It was a really good lesson. We both feel that she is not ready for baptism until she can consistently keep the commitment of reading the Book of Mormon and coming to church, so we took her off baptismal date. But we will continue meeting with her and hope she can make the changes in her life to be able to progress towards making and keeping the covenant of baptism.
☆We found a family yesterday! Lourdes was contacted in a park by the LA missionaries who referred her our way. We were able to teach her and her husband, Edwin, the Plan of Salvation, which was personal and powerful because Lourdes lost her sister earlier this year. Their 3 boys didn't sit in on the lesson this time but we hope next Sunday we will be able to teach the whole family!
☆We have not been able to have a lesson with Andre all week (he just transferred schools to play football and has had practice and tournaments all week) BUT we were able to stay in contact with him. Andre, us, all of Andre's former missionaries (about 15), and the Luque family (Obispo's son, Gerardo is the one who introduced Andre to the gospel) fasted and prayed for him yesterday. We are also in the process of making a video for Andre with all of his missionaries' pure testimonies of the gospel of Jesus Christ
☆Our friend Brenda has decided to follow the example of her Savior Jesus Christ and be baptized by someone holding authority from God on JULY 10!!!!! She is truly converted unto the Lord Jesus Christ. We are so joyful with her!
Elder Bednar taught in his talk "Converted unto the Lord": "Knowing that the gospel is true is the essence of a testimony. Consistently being true to the gospel is the essence of conversion. We should know the gospel is true and be true to the gospel." I invite each of you this week to consider ways you can act on your faith and follow what that Christ has commanded us to do. I promise that as you do this, you will become more converted to the Savior.
I love you all!
