Week 13

This week was soooo good! We were able to teach many of our friends and help them continue to progress. At zone council, we talked about the importance of baptism. This is the reason that the restored gospel of Jesus Christ is so important because the authority of God is on the earth to perform the essential ordinances to return to live with our Heavenly Father again. During the Savior's earthly ministry, he traveled far to be baptized by John the Baptist, because he possessed the proper authority. The Book of Mormon Prophet Nephi teaches: "And now, if the Lamb of God, he being holy, should have need to be baptized by water, to fulfil all righteousness, O then, how much more need have we, being unholy, to be baptized, yea, even by water" (2 Ne 31:5). This is the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ! Each of our friends are praying right now to know if this is the Church of Jesus Christ and if they should be baptized. Please pray for them that they can recognize the answers that God gives them!

We are seeing so many miracles in Cerritos right now!

-EMELIA! We met with Emelia twice this week! She was the sweet lady we found last Friday when our car was in the shop. Emelia told us that she is having problems with her husband and that day we found her, she had walked an hours distance to get to the park because she was having a bad day and needed to escape. She had sat down not even 5 minutes before when we came over. She knew that we were sent from God and knows that our message is true. Because of some issues she is working through, it may not be possible for her to be baptized now, and she may even have to move but she said that she knows she wants to be baptized and that no matter where she ends up, she will find the missionaries and be baptized.

-LA FAMILIA PEREZ! Edgar, Monica, Kaitlyn, Kathryn, y Junior. God has prepared them for the gospel of Jesus Christ. We had a good lesson with them about the Plan of Salvation. It is so beautiful to teach to a complete family that they can be together forever. We also had an awesome church tour with them. We ended at the baptismal font and showed the video of Christ being baptized. The Spirit was so strong. They said they would pray about baptism as a family.

-LA FAMILIA DE JACQUELINE! Carlos, Jacqueline, Nicole, y Alan. We got to their house and Carlos wasn't home so we just talked with the two kids while Jacqueline was cooking. Then when Carlos got home, we had dinner with the family and were able to teach them while we were eating. We taught the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and focused on the Book of Mormon.  We read 3 Ne 11. The Spirit was really strong and they truly want to know for themselves, so they are praying as a family if the Book of Mormon is true and if they should be baptized.

-MARIA #2! We taught her the Plan of Salvation. It was so sweet because her husband passed away a few years ago so knowing that she can be with her husband forever made her so happy.

-JULIA. We met Julia my first week when she was working in her yard but she didn't seem super interested. Yesterday, we arrived early to a lesson nearby and we had a prompting to go visit Julia. We were able to teach her about the atonement of Jesus Christ and prophets and are going back next week. The Lord's timing is perfect!

This week as I was studying the atonement of Jesus Christ, I learned more about the relationship between the atonement of Jesus Christ and the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is not that we "earn" salvation. Salvation was already paid for by Jesus Christ. It is a Cree gift available to all. But we have to ACT to accept this gift. And the way we accept it is by living the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is faith in Him, repentance, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. I am so grateful that the priesthood authority is on the earth today to allow us to be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost so we can accept this gift from Jesus Christ.

As we know, living the gospel of Jesus Christ is a lifelong effort. This week, I invite each of you to choose one element of the gospel of Jesus Christ that you can improve. I promise you that as you do this, you will come to know and love the Savior more. You will feel more of His peace in your life.

I love you all! Have the best week :)
