Week 10: Cerritos

Hi everyone!

It's been a little bit of a hard week. Not many things went how we expected them too, and we didn't see a lot of visable success this week. But this was a growing week, and as we were reminded by President Nelson, we are going to continue praying for miracles and have faith that God will work this miracles in his time.

We did have some funny things happen to us tho! I wish I could remember them more. We met the ZL's friend whose getting baptized this week named Julie, and when she met us, she thought my name was Hermana "Deadly" and that Hermana Midence was 12.

here were some of the best parts of the week:

-Dinner with Brenda and her kids (also her friend Enrique who's a member and his daughter was there). Brenda made the best enchiladas and flan. Then afterwards we taught them and some of the kids about the atonement of Jesus Christ and Brenda's 9 year old, Giovanni, started asking us lots of questions about the Plan of Salvation. He is so eager to learn truth. We're excited to answer more of his questions when we go back! Also Brenda's been having us teach her in English but she mentioned that she understands scripture better in Spanish so we dropped off a Spanish Book of Mormon with our testimonies in it last week. And she has been reading it a ton and praying for an answer! She is progressing so much! We're going back to have dinner with her tonight!!

-We are teaching a few families who haven't been to church in a long time and have lost their testimonies. We showed up to teach the Martinez family but the mom was gone so we got to talk to the 24 year old daughter for about a half hour before the mom got home. And then when we were teaching the mom the daughter and son were listening from another part of the room and contributing! Definitely a miracle because they haven't listened to the missiories in years.

-We have volleyball every Friday night with the ward and we invite the people that we are teaching. Andre, his mom, and his friend came thus week so that was pretty awesome!

-General Conference was amazing!!! Definitely took a lot of focus and effort to try to understand it in Spanish. But I definitely felt the Spirit when President Nelson was speaking, especially when he announced all the new temples. And there will be a temple next to the Mexico MTC! That makes me so happy :)

-We had dinner with los Elderés and Hermano Castiñeda, our ward mission leader. He's such a sweet old man. It was fun to be with them.

We had an awesome zone council where we practiced teaching some of the commandments that are more difficult to teach but that are so essential to understand. We got some really good ideas and realized how many specific blessings we are given from Heavenly Father for following these specific commandments. Every Commandment Heavenly Father gives us is because He loves us and He wants us to he happy. I love the Book of Mormon scripture in Mosiah 2:41, when King Benjamin is teaching the people. "And moreover, I would desire that ye should consider on the blessed and happy state of those that keep the commandments of God. For behold, they are blessed in all things, both temporal and spiritual; and if they hold out faithful to the end they are received into heaven, that thereby they may dwell with God in a state of never-ending happiness. O remember, remember that these things are true; for the Lord God hath spoken it."

I'm so grateful for the opportunity I have to serve as one of the Lord's missionaries and be an instrument in helping people feel this true happiness in their lives. I love this work and I love this gospel.

Hope you all have a great week!

Hermana Dudley

1.The day we walked because we ran out of miles.

2.Ferina St. Is our street. I'm pretty sure everyone on this street know who we are now because 3 people we teach love there so we were there almost every day last week.

3.Zone council!

4.We got to the Martinez house and the mom said she was just on her way back from picking her kids up from school so we said we'd wait...30 minutes of social media finding later...

5.The last day we were out of miles we decided to be in a quad with the Norwalk sisters because some of the people we teach live in their area! And afterwards we got Michocana ice cream, which is the best!
