CCM Week 5
Hi Everyone!
Each week has gotten better and better. It's crazy because the days feel like weeks and the weeks feel like days. Here were some of the highlights:
5. One day during gym, all the basketball and volleyball courts were taken so our district decided to play foursquare on the MTC President's driveway. When Hermana Kirkahm came out of her casa, someone apologized for playing on her driveway, and she said "I'm glad you're playing on the driveway. It's the Lord's driveway"
4. Meal times with my district is so fun! Honestly we have some interesting and very different personalities in our group but I've come to love each person in my district. And some of the things the Elders say are highly entertaining. I would have never expected that one day our lunch conversation was about how bees use trigonometry.
3. Welcoming the new district! This is one of my favorite things to do here. We've only been here 2 weeks but may as well be 2 years you learn so much in such a short period of time. I loved meeting our new district. I'm so sad this was the last time because next week (our last week in the CCM) our zone won't be receiving a new district :(
2. Hermana Young and I were able to practice teaching the Restoration with our teacher, Hermana Cabrera. When we shared Joseph Smith's account of the First Vision from memory, the Spirit was so strong.
1.We went to the temple today! It was interesting to drive through Mexico City (the temple is about 45 mins away) People drive so crazy here! For the last 20 minutes, Hermana Young and I and the zone leaders led the missionaries on the bus in singing hymns in Spanish, which was really cool. At the temple, I felt so much peace. It was amazing to be there with 40 other missionaries. We had headphones so we could listen to the endowment session in English, but at the veil we spoke in Spanish which was really cool. Every time I go to the temple, I feel at home and I'm reminded of my purpose here on earth.
This week, I've felt so grateful that God trust me enough to be one of his missionaries. In Matthew 28:19-20, the Savior commanded His apostles: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Elder Renlund taught us that we are companions to the quorum of the twelve apostles. It's amazing that God trusts thousands of 18 and 19 year Olds to go throughout the world and teach His gospel. Like Peter in John 21, the Savior has commanded us to leave our fish (our life at home) and "feed my sheep." Even though I am imperfect, I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to teach this perfect message. I know that God is with me every step of the way.
It's crazy to think that next week is our last week here! I am excited to keep learning and growing and strengthening my testimony next week.
Love you all!
